وہ استاد کی باتیں سننا سمجھنا
Listening to the words of our teachers
عمل اُن پہ کرنے کی کوشش بھی کرنا
And trying to act upon them
اُنہی کی خُدا سے دعائیں بھی کرنا
Praying to God for their wellbeing
گزارہ ہو کیسے بِلا اِن عزیزو
How will we survive without them, my dear friends?
وہ ہم درس ہم فصلِ ہم ذوق ساتھی
Those friends who were our classmates and companions with similar tastes
جھگڑ کر محبت بھی کرتے وہ ساتھی
With whom we fought but also loved dearly
انہی کی ادائیں دلوں کو لُبھاتی
Our hearts were turned to them and their antics
نہ تم سے ملینگے اب احسن عزیزو
You won’t be able to meet them anymore, my dear friends
وہ راتوں کو اُٹھ کر تکرار کرنا
Those discussions that went late into the night
سمجھنے سمجھانے کا اسرار کرنا
Trying to win over each other with arguments
خودہی کو آسائش سے بیزار کرنا
Depriving oneself of all luxuries
نہ ایسا ملیگا نشیمن عزیزو
We will never get another home like it, my dear friends
