یہ چہرے گر بے نقاب ہوتے تو سوچو کتنے فساد ہوتے
If these faces would have been bared, think what mischief might have occurred
کہ مطلبی بے حساب ہوتے تو سوچو کتنے فساد ہوتے
If the world would be filled with selfish people, think what mischief might have occurred
کہیں شکستہ نگاہ ہوتی کہیں زباں داغدار ہوتے
Somewhere the eyes may have failed, elsewhere the tongue sullied
اگر سوال و جواب ہوتے تو سوچو کتنے فساد ہوتے
If people would question endlessly, think what mischief might have occurred
جو بھید الفت کے فاش ہوتے تو آرزوؤں کے لاش ہوتے
If the secrets of lovers became exposed, then many dreams would have died
کہ سب کے سب گر سراب ہوتے تو سوچو کتنے فساد ہوتے
If all were illusions, think what mischief might have occurred
غریب کوئی امیر کوئی فقیر کوئی نصیر کوئی
Some of us are poor, some rich; some beggars, others helpers
یہ سب کے سب گر نواب ہوتے تو سوچو کتنے فساد ہوتے
If everyone was wealthy, think what mischief might have occurred
میں الفتوں کا فقیر ٹھہرا ہاں خاک کا میں خمیر ٹھہرا
In love, I am a beggar; in nature, a body of clay
کہ دیکھ ساقی یہ خواب ہوتے تو سوچو کتنے فساد ہوتے
If such were dreams, SAQI, think what mischief might have occurred
