We were neither like kings, nor like the wealthy
ہم شہر محبت کے فقیروں کی طرح تھے
In the city of love, we were like beggars
افسوس کہ سمجھا نہ ہمیں اہل نظر نے
Alas, the people with foresight could not interpret
جو میری ہتھیلی پہ لکیروں کی طرح تھے
That which was written in the lines of my palm
سوچی نہ بری سوچ کبھی ان کے لئے بھی
I never entertained a bad thought for them
پیوست میرے دل میں جو تیروں کی طرح تھے
Who were embedded like arrows in my heart
ٹھکرا دیا جس بے وفا نے غیر سمجھ کر
The betrayer who rejected me as an outsider
ہم اس کی محبت میں اسیروں کی طرح تھے
I remained like a captive in their love
چھوڑا تھا جن کو ہم نے فقط تیر ہی خاطر
Whom I had left just for your sake
ان کے لئے ہم قیمتی ہیروں کی طرح تھے
To them I was as worthy as precious diamonds
ہم احترام ان کا بھی کرتے رہے عاجز
I continued to respect them as well, Aajiz
نظروں میں جن کی ہار حقیروں کی طرح تھے
In whose eyes I was like a wretched loser
