سوئے دشت و دمن تارکِ سائباں
تو چلا ہے کہاں چھوڑ کر گلستاں
کیوں تجھے راس آئی ہے فصلے خزاں
تو جدھر ہے رواں خار ہے بس وہاں

میں نے مانا ابھی تو معمر نہیں
موت کا وقت لیکن مقرر نہیں
دارِ فانی ہے رستہ کوئی گھر نہیں
تو مسافر دنیا ہے اک سائباں
بال انگریز جیسے کٹائے ہوئے
مونچھ حد سے زیادہ بڑھائے ہوئے
اور ڈاڑھی کو بلکل منڈائے ہوئے
کیا مسلماں کے ہیں یہ شایان شاں
اونچے اونچے محل جو بنائے ہیں یہ
گھر نہیں در حقیقت سرائے ہیں یہ
ہر گز اپنے نہیں ہیں پرائے ہیں یہ
بعد تیری کوئی اور ہو گا یہاں
میں نے مانا کہ گانوں میں بھی ہے کشش
عاشقی کے فسانوں میں بھی ہے کشش
پر بتا کچھ اذانوں میں بھی ہے کشش
تجھ کو آواز دیتا ہے رب جہاں
ڈاڑھی رکھنا بہیت ہی ہے مشکل مگر
روز محشر یہ آقاﷺ نے پوچھا اگر
میری صورت میں کیا نقص آیا نظر
کیا کہے گا جوابا بتا تو وہاں
بیٹھکوں میں نہ یوں وقت برباد کر
نفس کی قید سے خود کو آزاد کر
اپنے خلّاق کو بھی کبھی یاد کر
دیکھ تجھ پر ہے وہ کس قدر مہرباں
English Lyrics:
O today’s youth listen to my laments.Abandoning your shelters, you are going towards oppressive deserts.
Where are you leaving to?
Why do you like autumn?
There are only thorns where you are going.
O today’s youth listen to my laments.
I believe you are not old yet.
But time of death is not fixed.
There is no home and the path is mortal.
So the traveler’s world is a shadow.

Look at how kind He is towards you.
